In the 56th Super Bowl, Dr. Dre, aged 56, curated what many are saying is the best halftime show ever seen. While Twitter was quick to skirt right past the performance itself in a flood of memes and dad jokes, we were taking notes on the timeless styles we’d like to add to our wardrobe. For those who maybe can’t pull off the space cowgirl-inspired Mary J. Blige get-up, who can’t quite afford (give us a few years) Kendrick’s couture Louis Vuitton suiting, or realistically can’t see themself hitting the sneaker lotto with Eminem’s forthcoming Jordan collab, there was still plenty of outfit inspiration to come from the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show.
If you hold your Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ CD case upside down and squint a little you could easily mistake that Curtis Jackson for the 50 who shocked the internet with his Spider-Man like antics to intro his ‘03 anthem, ‘In Da Club’. True to form, 50 Cent pulled up in his familiar mix of high-low fashion, upping the ante of a simple white singlet with his own G-Unit brand, paired with fitted black jeans, white sneakers and of course, a headband to pay homage to the last time we saw 50 rapping upside down. Peep the ‘In Da Club’ clip, if you need a refresher on that one. You can find us in the club this weekend in a mix of sportswear, designer and loungewear.

We can neither confirm or deny that Snoop Dogg was wearing a one-of-one Camilla sweatsuit – we simply choose to think he was – as he tirelessly C-walked left, right, forwards and back much to the adoration of sport fans, music fans and fans of Plizzanet Earth. Fans of Dr. Dre will most likely already be across the fact that the hip-hop legend claims to wear Nike Air Force 1s every single day. And for his curated hometown Super Bowl spectacle, the OG did not disappoint. More often than not found in a pair of white-on-whites, Dre thought he’d keep us on our toes by stepping out in a pair of all black Air Force 1s. No creases. With autumn just around the corner, is there a better time to add a pair of versatile leather sneakers to your everyday arsenal? The New Balance 550 and adidas Originals Forum are good alternatives if you’re not quite sold on the swoosh.

Kendrick was undeniably the best-dressed individual involved in the halftime entertainment. But what about the best collective effort? Without a shadow of doubt, it has to be the ‘Still D.R.E.’ backup dancers. Showcasing the closest thing to an LA street uniform, the white tee, Dickies two-piece and Converse on feet is an iconic West Coast look. It’s only right they broadcast it to millions of viewers around the world and it’s a style you can easily replicate, dial up in a one-piece Dickies short sleeve coverall, or dial down with any pair of 874s and a crisp white tee. For an elevated take on a certified classic, look to Converse Chuck 70s or the new recycled canvas 70s range.

Our other Super Bowl highlights included Kanye’s mask, Jay-Z rapping along to ‘Still D.R.E.’ like he wrote it and The Rock being on TV and not rapping. Until next time, stay sporty and stock up on your favourite fan gear.
