At Home With… Jeff Lack

“I can’t get the time back I invested in Tiger King…”

Styling is all about being hands-on, so how is Jeff Lack coping with life in iso? We checked in…

What are your style hacks for being at home all the time? What are you wearing on high rotation?
“Given there is a whole lot of sitting down, comfort is king. This doesn’t mean slouchy, PJs, trackies or sportswear. Clothing that moves with you and allows freedom of expression, but make it fashion. Wear shoes, it feels more ‘normal’.”

What's your one go-to-piece?
“I had to choose … Linen T-shirts rule, super comfy, light, soft, drapey goodness. Tuck them in, leave them out or smarten them up with a jacket over the top. Pants optional haha. Comfort is king and versatility is your kingdom.”

What's keeping your spirits high right now?
“I meditate, everyday. Being still and grounded sets me up for the day. I’m learning Italian via 15 minutes per day on the DuoLingo app. Reading ‘Modern Love’ for half an hour each day (almost finished, will have to find a new book). I build playlists for different activities – A roll in the hay, Juicy Tuesday, Eggs of Easy –  courtesy of Spotify's Discover Weekly feature. Cooking up a storm with inspo from a famous client I worked with, Jamie Oliver, (I rate his Foodtube channel), whilst perfecting the art of making classic Negronis. Plating up is very similar to styling fashion – get a nice mix of colours and highlight the hero. I can’t get the time back I invested in Tiger King though… Film has always provided me with style inspiration alongside mountains, sea and landscapes. I watched The Gentlemen, which I loved for a bunch of reasons. The pace, the language (close your ears if you don’t like 4-letter ‘French’ words) and wardrobe are incredible.”

For all those still WFH, do you believe that you have to 'get dressed for your day'?
“My mantra is ‘look good, feel great’. I have been WFH since 2005, kinda in a rhythm now. Shower, everyday. Wear something nice. The power of presentation is way more important when you can’t leave home. Call someone you haven’t taken time to in the past. Set tasks and achievable goals so you can enjoy the feeling of fulfilment. Dress up for your grocery run (people are surprised when you’re not in activewear), Houseparty cocktails and date night. Grab anything that feels ‘normal’ to you as an anchor point. Exercise your mind, body and spirit. Create good habits that you will still do post lockdown.”
