Gearing up for a long line-up of summer festivals? Consider these footwear tips when you’re packing.

Do – wear shoes that are already worn in. Whether you spend all your time on the dance floor or wandering around looking for lost mates you’ll be glad you wore your comfiest kicks. If you need a new pair, opt for sporty styles that offer all-day cushioning, like New Balance Classic.

Don’t – forget how messy festivals can get. If you live in white sneakers don’t expect them to come out still looking brand new by the end of the first day. If you can’t go without, consider canvas styles like Vans over expensive leather, that way you can chuck them in the washing machine afterwards rather than giving them the boot.

Do – consider making an investment. The price of a quality pair of leather boots might sound steep at first but they’ll last a lot longer than cheaper alternatives so you won’t need to buy a new pair for every festival you attend.

Don’t – just bring a pair of flip flops and think you’re set. We get it, you don’t care for festival fashion but there’s also a very good chance they’ll break and you'll be left barefoot. Keep a second pair of Havaianas in your bag for when your slides slip right off in the middle of the moshing, because it will happen. Avoid the risk of ruining your pluggers by opting for a pair of Crocs, worn in sports mode of course.

Do – check the weather forecast for rain. There’s nothing worse than having soggy feet for three days straight. The safest bet – add a pair of gumboots to your bag and be ready for any weather.
