“Don’t Let Anyone Who Underestimates Your Value Stop You From Rising Above.”

This International Women’s Day we’re sharing the stories of the women who inspire us.

To mark International Women’s Day this year, we asked Kit Willow, advocate for more sustainable fashion and designer behind KitX, to pen an open and honest letter to her younger self around how the official IWD 2020 theme #EachforEqual speaks to her.

Dear Little Kit,

Welcome to this beautiful, cruel, magical world. You will be loved fully by the closest purest love and you too will love with all your heart only those that feel right. You will never stop growing, as a young seed you will feel the weight and inertia of the earth as it seeks to break out of it’s shell on its way to becoming a flower.

Change is inevitable. Evolution is the only guarantee, embrace it, and those around you that enter in and out or stay forever in our hearts. It’s okay to let people go and fight hard for those worthy of staying close.

Behind every successful woman is a tribe of other women who have her back, your sisters will have your back as you must theirs, fertilise their growth and help each other, unite for what we stand for and unite for what we believe in. You will come across incredible women across the globe with deep love and respect for them and their mission. Together you will work to create a movement of positive change with science, compassion and sisterhood uniting.

May each of your sister’s successes inspire one another – in fashion, in fighting climate change and motherhood – you will form a tribe, a tribe of incredible women who are strong, kind, clever, capable, compassionate, guiding each other through tough times and the best times!

You are in charge of your ship, never forget that, find your people that share your values and don’t let anyone who underestimates your value get you down and stop you from rising above.
