Just like how classifying yoga pants as actual pants is polarising, same goes for exercise shorts. Brought back from the ‘80s and ‘90s by It Girls around the world, these little figure-hugging shorts have caused as much controversy as their longer counterparts, and for the most part, yes, we get it, they’re not as ideal for our everyday outfits as they are for the Insta-Gal.
We can’t all call a bike short and blazer combination work appropriate like Fashion Week attendees can, nor do we all want to wear ours with a matching crop top, tiny sunglasses and a teddy jacket on the weekend.
But if you forget about how all the fashionistas are wearing them and think about how practical they actually are, these little Lycra shorts aren’t so bad after all.

They’re great for the gym when it’s too hot for leggings.
They’re the best solution for those dresses that are a little bit too short to wear comfortably and confidently.
They’re the perfect match for all those oversized tees, shirts and jumpers you’ve “borrowed” from the boys.
They solve chafing problems and you can wear them discreetly under all your summer dresses.
