Hipster Jeans Are on The Rise

Low-slung waistbands: cringe-worthy or cause for celebration?

We’ve been on the ‘90s and ‘00s trend revivals for a while now. Everything from slip dresses to snakeskin pants have been reborn and welcomed back into our wardrobes but one thing we haven’t considered is the rise (or should we say fall) of our waistbands.

Most of us embraced the return of the waist several years ago and never looked back. High-waisted and mid-rise designs – pants, dresses, skirts – have been the norm for so long that some people swear they’ll never go back to low-cut again. “They keep everything in” and “they’re more flattering” being the most common sentiments. On the other hand, there are some who never jumped on the bandwagon, insisting low-riders are far more comfortable and are “great after a big meal”. Valid point.

Whatever your preference, the good news is high-rise is still trending, and now so is hipster.

While we’re hoping that they’ll never drop to dangerously low levels like they did in the past (no knicker showing or butt cheek baring designs so far), the low-slung designs of today are here and they’re not as bad as we had originally thought.
