When six-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton is not winning world titles and team Mercedes-AMG Petronas, the 35 year old can be found driving, well, ridiculously expensive – and rare – automobiles. And he has about 15 of them, give or take.
It’s become a bit of a thing for people to follow Hamilton for the overly lavish lifestyle he leads, and his private car collection is no exception.
Here are some of our favourite Lewis Hamilton automotive purchases:Â
Ferrari 599 GTO
The second car that Hamilton ever purchased, and what a ride it is. This Ferrari, with its 6 litre V12 engine, is a beast in its own right, but evidently not good enough for Hamilton, who has since parted ways with the 599 GTO.
Pagani Zonda 760LHÂ
Super rare and super enviable, Hamilton’s Pagani Zonda 760LH is one he uses to zip through the streets of Monaco, France. Hamilton has famously been quoted saying that the Zonda is the best sounding car he owns, but handling is just terrible. Might be the reason he crashed it after a night of heavy partying. Go figure!
Mercedes AMG GT R
A purchase to mark his arrival at team Mercedes in 2013, the AMG GT R is high-performance in every possible sense, accelerating from 0 to 62mph in just 3.6 seconds.
McLaren P1
One of the fastest cars in Hamilton’s collection, the McLaren P1 is a hybrid sports car that was released in a small batch of 375 cars worldwide, with Hamilton getting his hands on one in a cobalt blue. Cost? Around $1.15 million dollars. That’s what a car that uses Formula One technology will set you back.
