In our quest to strike the right professional-yet-comfortable balance, Monday might start in jeans but Friday sure ends in sweats. Gym tights, loose pants and snug socks have become some of our best friends in recent weeks and Google searches for cycling shorts have spiked. So has everyone jumped on the saddle or are bike shorts the at-home solution to comfortable cool?
Come to think of it, does it even matter? Porque no los dos?

The humble bike short has moved on from its spray-on, everything-on-display revival of recent years, 2020 styling is a little more sophisticated. Choose the length you love and treat them as the ultimate staple – these no-brainers have taken the place where, a few years ago, trusty leggings used to sit.
For 2020, says Nicole Adolphe, Head of Style at THE ICONIC, “wearing with an oversize sweater slightly tucked in at the front and cross body bag with sneakers or flats is the way to go for the daily coffee trip. Whilst Kim brought back this trend by wearing a blazer, it’s now developed with a cooler edge – make that blazer slouchy and oversize or add a coat, teamed ack with a crop knit underneath, or a t-shirt with a more casual lifestyle shoe.”
The styling options are endless. Layer them with a loose shirt, an oversized denim jacket, a boxy tee, a strong-shouldered blazer, steal a boy’s hoodie, half tuck a slouchy knit.
For a bit of WFH / daily walk / quick grocery shop outfit inspo, here are some of our favourite ways to style them…
