The world's a bit different at the moment, but among the heartache there are some moments of kindness. Here are some that made us smile this week...

Celebrities, including Khloe Kardashian,
have been moved to acts of kindness. The co-founder of denim and activewear brand Good American, stayed true to her brand's name by footing the groceries bill for elderly shoppers in Los Angeles. And she’s not the only member of the family digging deep during the COVID-19 pandemic – younger sister Kylie Jenner donated $1million dollars to provide doctors with face masks and other vital PPE.

Seeing a reduction in pollution, Milan has announced plans to pedestrianise 35km in the city to continue the reduction in car emissions experienced during Italy’s strict lockdown. The government will encourage Milans inhabitants to walk or cycle to work once lockdown ends.

Sweden’s Princess Sofia has begun volunteering at a hospital in Stockholm. Undergoing an intensive three-day course, the royal has swapped her tiara for marigolds as she supports hospital staff fighting Covid-19 by cleaning and disinfecting wards.

On hearing that eight year old Australian Corona De Vries was being bullied at school for his name, recovered coronavirus-sufferer and all-round top bloke, Tom Hanks, wrote him a letter and gifted him his treasured typewriter (model name ‘Corona’). As Tom rightly said, “friends make friends feel good when they are down.”

And finally, at the age of two and a half, when Nashville resident Meg Kroes's son wants Alexa to play his favourite song, it can be hard to be understood by the virtual assistant. After asking repeatedly to no avail, check out how excited Oscar is at finally feeling heard...
