Train Smart: Why My Favourite Workout Buddy Is My Watch

We’ll never leave home without it!

A 2011 study published in Psychology of Sport and Exercise showed that people with workout companions had a better chance of sticking to their workout than those who worked out solo. Nobody said anything about that companion having to be human. That’s why I never hit the gym without my smart watch. Here’s four reasons my watch is the perfect partner...

It tracks all my exercise (not just my workout)
Sure, my regular yoga class and morning run are measured and tallied by my smart watch, but so is every step I make around the office (and the supermarket). And yes, each step counts when it comes to my fitness goals.

It takes a holistic approach to fitness
Working out isn’t just about burning calories. For lasting change you have to look at the big picture. And my smart watch does just that. We’re talking my heart rate, my stress levels, the quality of my sleep… just to name a few functions.

It allows me go hands-free
With my smart watch I can leave my phone behind when I go to the gym and still receive all my emails and notifications while I work out.  I can even reply, delete and forward messages too. Easy!

It’s an awesome DJ
I need music to work out and luckily my smart watch can connect to the music I have on my phone. All I have to do is connect my earbuds and I can listen to whatever will get me motivated!
