Rumours have long been swirling about a Sex And The City revival and finally, this week, the cast confirmed the whispers to be true. A continuation from the 2000s show, the new HBO series will be called ‘And Just Like That’ – a nod to Carrie’s writing style in the original episodes – and will check back in with the girls we left in their thirties, now in their fifties.
Which begs the first of many questions.
We couldn’t help but wonder… will Carrie‘s single life column have survived her changing to married status and the landscape of today? (The world is a very different place than the one we left them in in 2004. New York is a very different place than the one we left them in in 2004.)
Will Carrie be any more tech savvy than she was in the movie? Will she still be with Big?
Will the women still be talking about man troubles? Will any of them be single again?
Many of the topics that the girls mulled over at brunch and cocktails just wouldn’t wash with a modern audience – a loop of returning to unavailable ‘bad boys’, subpar dates... (we can only imagine what Carrie makes of the app dating world).
Will it also examine the evolution of female friendships as the decades roll on? Notably Kim Cattrall has not signed on to join the cast of the series as Samantha after publicly not gelling with Sarah Jessica Parker when they worked together previously.
But the biggest question of all is what will they be wearing? Will Miranda be styling this season's Bermuda shorts? Will Charlotte stay true to her conservative, uptown style or her will she have evolved into a linen-loving mum of Instagram? We're taking bets that Carrie's first outfit will feature puff sleeves...
