The whodunnit the internet’s talking about, The Undoing sees Aussie superstar Nicole Kidman play betrayed wife Grace Fraser, supporting her husband, played by Hugh Grant, as he stands accused of brutally murdering a mother at their son’s prestigious private school.

The twists and turns of this psychological thriller might keep us coming back each episode, but we stay for Kidman’s bohemian-luxe, Upper East Side wardrobe.

Autumnal tones of bottle green, plum and russet. Boot-skimming hemlines, stacks of rings and a neat, Rouge Noir manicure. But it’s the outerwear that’s really got the internet divided.
Intended to stand out from her ultra polished peers, therapist, Grace is a comparatively free spirit, wafting through the Manhattan streets all sweeping crushed velvet outerwear and coiled auburn locks, jarring against cream cashmere coats and smooth blow-outs at the school gates.

Unlike much of the designer wardrobe on the show, Grace’s favourite outerwear, the coat from her extensive collection that appears most in the series, was specially designed by Danish costume designer, Signe Sejlund. As expensive-looking as her father’s Fifth Avenue apartment, Grace's coat is polarising the internet and fashion writers alike.
It could be any number of factors. The calf-grazing length? The mossy shade of green? The velvety fabric? The total impracticality against a New York winter? The hood?

All we will say is the colour palette and love of a good scarf almost had us longing for autumn. Almost. And thinking about how to weave rich colours into every outfit.
