This Concealer Will Help You Fake A Full Night Of Sleep

Trust me, I’m an insomniac.

Struggling to get in your eight hours? When we’re sleep deprived, our eye area is the first place to show the signs of a restless night. And puffy eyes and dark circles aren’t easy to hide either. Sometimes makeup can end up making things look worse – this is why having a good concealer in your makeup arsenal is crucial.

As a beauty editor with insomnia (at least once a week I’m running on less than four hours of sleep) finding a great concealer is practically my life’s work. I’ve tried countless concealers over the years and found only a handful that meet my standards. In my opinion, your concealer should be hydrating, crease-proof, stay put all-day and have enough coverage that you don’t need too much product.

When Bobbi Brown revealed that they were launching their new Skin Corrector and Concealer Sticks, I couldn’t wait to put them to the test. The complexion pair was developed with makeup artists (so you know they’re good) to instantly neutralise discolouration and brighten the under-eye area.

Whether you’re looking for a new concealer or just curious to see if the Skin Corrector and Concealer Sticks live up to the hype, keep scrolling to read my honest review of the Bobbi Brown Skin Corrector and the Bobbi Brown Concealer Sticks.

What are they?
These skin perfecting quick sticks are designed to be used together for effortless application and buildable coverage. The stick format makes the duo easy to apply and ideal for on-the-go touch ups.

The Skin Corrector Stick neutralises dark circles in a creamy, featherlight formula. If you’re not familiar with colour correctors, remember learning about the colour wheel in primary school art class? Colour correcting works by using the same principles as the colour wheel – you apply a shade that’s the direct opposite of whatever you are trying to conceal. So if you have greenish-brown discolouration under your eyes, choose a peach corrector shade. For bluish-purple discolouration, choose a bisque shade corrector.

The Skin Concealer Stick is designed to even your skin tone, brighten the under eye area and provide coverage wherever you need it. It claims to last for up to twelve hours without creasing or caking, which is a big call. The creamy formula is blendable and buildable so you can adjust the coverage as you like.

How do you apply them?
My favourite feature of this complexion duo is the easy-to-use stick format. They’re honestly foolproof. First, apply the Skin Corrector Stick over any discolouration you might have and then dab the product with your fingertips until it’s blended into your skin. Next, do the same with the Skin Concealer Stick. You can apply the concealer anywhere else that you want a bit more coverage as well. The formula contains nourishing ingredients like Coffee Seed Extract and Salicornia which makes it hydrating enough to apply to dry areas of your complexion without it looking cakey.

What’s the coverage like?
Both sticks have medium, buildable coverage. The formulas pack quite a punch for such a lightweight formula. The beauty of the corrector is that you don’t need to apply as much concealer as you would usually need. A thin layer of the corrector and one layer of the concealer is enough to hide dark circles.

How do they wear throughout the day?
Arguably the most important test of all, the wear test. After wearing the products all day, I can confirm they didn’t crease. I’m in my thirties and I don’t want my makeup to enhance any fine lines or wrinkles. This concealer didn’t. And I was genuinely impressed.

Even before setting the duo with a translucent powder, they didn’t crease. Whether it’s the nourishing ingredients, the lightweight formulation or that the stick application makes it hard to apply too much product, my under-eye area remained crease-proof and left my skin looking fresh and glowy. They’re a great choice for anyone who has dry or mature skin.

The verdict
I really like these products. If you’re new to correctors this is an excellent one to start with as it’s so easy to use. I love the quick stick format and that I can throw these products in my handbag for touch ups when I’m out and about.
