‘No hat, no play.’ The rule we lived by on the school ground still applies – especially now as summer holidays round the corner. Broad-brims are where it’s at to protect that face of yours from a little too much Vitamin D. Like Miranda Kerr says, “Some sunshine is good for the soul, but I always make sure I wear a big hat.”

When it comes to sun-shielding numbers, you’re looking for something you’ll wear on the daily.
This season, we’re looking for the overachiever of sun hats. The bigger, the better. The not-quite-Jacquemus but pretty darn close. We want coverage, and plenty of it. Forget the burn, baby, burn. Thus season it’s all about keeping your cool. Stay shady and go for a number that offers you coverage for your face, neck, shoulders and decolletage. Some hats even have inbuilt sun protection – UVA and UVBs – for the extra win.
And there’s never been a better time to invest: this week holds the title National Skin Cancer Action Week – an initiative driven by the Cancer Council Australia and the Australasian College of Dermatologists in an effort to raise the sun smarts of Australians nationwide.
A hat isn’t just for beach side, it’s an everyday affair. It’s the easiest way, too, to update your wardrobe. Give those summer linens a facelift with your new favourite accessory, or rock a broad brim with your sundress of choice.
There are plenty of never-want-to-take-off hats to choose from. Wherever you are this holiday season, we’ve got just the thing.
