Music festivals are back in action and the next few months are set to hold some megalithic events. Are you prepared to listen to your favourite music alongside your favourite people? Some of you might be veterans, while others may be gearing up for your first-ever major event. Whatever the case is, we have a few tips and tricks to help you navigate the 2022 festival landscape!

Prepare in Advance
When you’re going to a multi-day festival there are many things you have to consider, such as food, water, transport, clothing and camping equipment. Our top tip is to start preparing early! You don’t want to be that person who rocks up, ill-equipped and ends up borrowing things to make it through the weekend. We suggest making a checklist two to three weeks before the date arrives, so that you can write down everything you’ll need to do. On top of that, be sure to go through the festival’s information and FAQ pages, they usually have helpful facts that’ll make your trip go swimmingly.
Food and water will be a big part of your weekend so ensure you’re stocked with plenty of non-perishables and a large refillable drink bottle. Another hot tip is to invest in good quality camping gear and check the forecast regularly to keep track of what gear you’ll need to pack. While you may not be shacked up in the middle of the Australian Outback, the weather conditions may get a tad harsh and we want you to be as protected as possible. Be sure to organise transport in advance as well. If you’re heading to a multi-day party, be safe and nominate a designated driver amongst your crew or charter a bus.

What to Wear
Music festivals are definitely the time to express yourself and opt for clothes that you wouldn’t normally wear in your day-to-day life. We encourage that, but don’t make the whole experience about being the best dressed there. If you’re a master festival goer, then you probably already have your outfits planned. If you’re a newbie, and need a little outfit inspiration, head to the festival’s Instagram tagged section and see who wore what from the previous years.
Another thing to remember is to pack for all conditions, whether that’s rain, hail, shine and possibly snow! Bring multiple pairs of comfy shoes as well because we hope you’ll be on your feet having a boogie the entire weekend.
Clean Up!
Those who’ve been to a camping music festival before can attest to the fact that there are always a few scoundrels who leave behind belongings and rubbish on festival grounds, whether during the event or after. Having fun is a priority, but having a laissez faire attitude towards littering is definitely not the vibe! First and foremost, protecting our environment, choosing more sustainable options and cleaning up after yourself are just the right things to do. Secondly, the festival organisers have spent the money and put in the effort to help create the event for you. They will have their hands full with post-festival clean up after you leave, so do your bit and help them out!
Recovery
Despite all the fun you’ll have, music festivals are an exhausting affair – you’ll return home dirty, slightly dehydrated and incredibly hungry. So, we recommend ticking off a number of things before you head off, so that all you need to worry about when you get home is recovery. Firstly, to make it easier for you to relax and recover, make sure your house, or at least bedroom, is clean for your arrival back home. Having Powerade or Hydralyte already stocked in the fridge plus some money put aside for food delivery will make your return back to civilisation that much smoother.
Most importantly though, just have fun and remember PLUR (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect), the early 90s raver and festival-goer mindset!
