Style Spotlight: Oscar Isaac Is Your All-Powerful Style Inspo For 2022

Scenes From a Marriage 
Oscar Isaac’s costumes in Scenes From a Marriage caused an absolute storm on social media last year. Dressed by sartorial sharpshooter Miyako Bellizzi (who was also responsible for Adam Sandler’s wardrobe in Uncut Gems), Isaac’s academic style ranged from boxy brown corduroy pants to mustard long sleeve knit polos. Playing a philosophy professor from Crown Heights, Brooklyn, he wore the New Balance 993 sneaker for the occasion – famously immortalised by Steve Jobs during the dot-com boom of the early 2000s.

Utilising earthy browns, tech greys and autumnal greens reminiscent of the series’ pathos, other wardrobe highlights include tweed jackets, wire-rimmed glasses, and the epic Zegna x Fear of God pullover.

The Thom Browne Skirt
Oscar Isaac was no shrinking violet at the red carpet screening for Moon Knight in London this year, Marvel’s latest caped crusader arriving in a grey pleated knee-length skirt from Thom Browne. 

It was undoubtedly one of Isaac’s boldest looks yet, the chaemelonic actor cleverly inverting our cultural expectations of what a superhero should look like. Beyond the skirt, Isaac committed to a full Thom Browne ensemble, pairing a blazer and oxford shirt with the designer’s signature black four-bar socks and black leather brogue boots. 

Earlier in that same week, Isaac also combined the skirt with a leather jacket – a look so impressive it arguably eclipsed the suit on the red carpet! 

2022 Met Gala
Flipping the script yet again with his getup at the 2022 Met Gala, the actor this time flexed a Thom Browne ‘trompe l’oeil’ white tie and tailcoat dress. Arriving alongside his filmmaker wife, Elvira Lind, the couple set out to subvert gender norms when it comes to dress codes, with Lind arriving in a black three-ply mohair tailcoat also designed by the luxury brand.

This may have been the first time that the duo attended the Met Gala, but after the Twittersphere reacted in near universal praise for the power couple, it’s safe to say that this certainly won’t be their last.

Moon Knight 
Beyond the inaugural red carpet screening for Moon Knight, Oscar Isaac has been pulling up in some truly heroic ‘fits during the press tour for Jeremy Slater’s latest work.

Appearing as a guest on Late Night With Seth Meyers in April 2022, Isaac rocked a short sleeve polo knit, the textile-like pattern formalised by the black colour-blocking around the collars and shoulder. Isaac also recently appeared on BBC Radio 1 with film critic Ali Plumb, this time enlivening his getup with a statement gold necklace. Yes, the academic’s wardrobe (highlighted in Scenes From a Marriage) was kicked to the curb in favour of a late-night club ‘fit, his signature polo given a little extra BPM by the jazzy white stripes.
