They’re the hair accessory we haven’t been able to shake since primary school. From silk scarves to something more structured, a headband is the easiest way to slick back your strands. Not to mention it’s super handy if you’re fresh out of dry shampoo and have skipped a wash day (or three).
You can wear it all the way forward, right up against your hairline, or push it back like you would have worn it in school photos (at least this time, you have all your teeth). We’re seeing bejewelled numbers and plain blacks, but it’s always been a case of choose-your-own-adventure. If you wear a lot of block colours, try the same with your hair band. Black, navy, even camel-tones. Or, use a simple ribbon with your wear-always ponytail for a super sweet take on this trend. Whether you go for the full tiara look or you’re straight from the beach and using anything within reach, they’re our summer uniform of choice.
Here’s a few of our favourite ways to style the headband...

The ribbon band
A simple black tie is a super chic go-to, no matter your style. Feels oh-so-French and it’s useful for keeping that pony in place. Tie your pony up at the tip or leave it loose and low.

The scarf band
This summer-ready style is on high rotation in The Iconic office. It’s the perfect way to harness summer frizz, and it’s good to go whether you’re straight from the beach or looking to lift your white tee and jeans combo. Buy this ready-made or DIY with your favourite cotton scarf.

The head band
In a nod to the 90s, a thick block-coloured headband with a knot detail is a work-ready style. Wear your hair long and straight, or it’s perfect to throw over locks straight out of the surf.
