How To Find The Perfect White Jeans

… And Then Not Destroy Them

White jeans are a total power move. They say – to anyone who cares to listen – that you’re unafraid. Unafraid of barbeque sauce, spaghetti or anything a nearby toddler has in mind to throw your way.

When it comes to finding the perfect pair, no matter what fit you’re looking for, you want a good weight in your denim so you don’t have to think too hard about what lies beneath. But, too thick, and you’ll ditch them in the summer months. So: mid weight is where it’s at, whether you go for high-rise, a crop flare or a second skin style. This season, we like a more relaxed fit, something with a higher waist (because, you know, pizza).

So, once you’ve found the perfect pair, how to keep them looking bright?

Make some cuts
Or, more specifically, cut off the label. Chances are, these babies are going to need a soak every now and then. And if your label is made of anything other than a white leather, there’s a real and present danger its dye will leak into and stain your jeans. So, cut it loose before you have a chance to find out.

Care 101
Sure there are the care-for basics. The ‘separate your whites from your colours’ commandment alongside the ‘choose a pinot gris over a noir’ mantra (prevention, we’re told, is better than a cure), but life is meant for living so get out there and know that most mistakes and be fixed up later.
When it comes to the question of the fix, there is totally no need to get involved with bleach. It can actually give them a yellow hue if you get a little too enthusiastic with it.  If they need a freshen up, warm water and baking soda is our go-to soak of choice.

In case of spills
Don’t freak out when there’s a stain. Just dab it with soda / water and know you’ll be able to fix it up come laundry time. If you’re a parent / near a nappy-bag carrying parent, baby wipes are an at-the-ready easy hack. Or, if you want to take it to the next level, throw a stain remover stick in your bag. When it does come to making nice with your washing machine, always lift your stains in a hot wash.

Here’s a few of the styles in our wishlist RN.
