Find The Right Cleanser
Proper cleansing is the cornerstone of any great skincare routine, so finding a formula that works with your complexion is a good starting point. For oily, breakout-prone or combination skin, a lightweight gel is our top choice. However if you’re dry, look for a nourishing cream, milk or balm.
Double cleansing is also worth considering, especially to remove heavy makeup and sunscreen. You can use the one formula twice, or take it up a notch with a micellar or oil cleanser as a first step. Fun fact: an oil-based cleanser will breakdown oil-based makeup with ease.

Pick Your Actives
Perhaps the most transformative step is a treatment product — usually in the form of a serum — that calls on active ingredients to correct concerns. Here’s a breakdown of our favourites:

Vitamin C
This potent antioxidant protects the skin from free radicals, preventing premature signs of aging and improving general luminosity.

Salicylic Acid
A beta-hydroxy acid, salicylic dissolves oil within the pore, reducing the incidence of pimples and blackheads.

Glycolic Acid
Glycolic is an alpha-hydroxy acid that exfoliates the upper layers of the skin, leaving it brighter, smoother and more even.

Lactic Acid
Another alpha-hydroxy acid, lactic acid is a slightly bigger molecule when compared to glycolic for a gentler effect.

Retinol
A form of vitamin A, retinol is an all-star ingredient that improves skin cell turnover, reducing the look of pigmentation, lines, wrinkles and congestion.

Niacinamide
Also known as vitamin B3, niacinamide is a super-soother that regulates oil flow, refines the look of pores and reduces redness.

Hyaluronic Acid
This molecule is a humectant that works to draw water into the skin, improving hydration and delivering that plump, fresh finish.

Make Friends With Moisturiser
Once you’ve nailed down a 10/10 treatment product, it makes sense to lock it all in with a nourishing moisturiser. If you experience midday shine, opt for a lightweight water-based formula. Normal to dry skin will instead benefit from a heavier cream that contains oils and butters to prevent water loss.
Never Skip Sunscreen
Last but absolutely not least comes sunscreen. A crucial step for literally all skin types, sunscreen should go on as a final step after skincare and before makeup. There are two main camps: ‘physical’ and ‘chemical’. On occasion, extremely sensitive complexions might do better with a ‘physical’ option (look out for zinc oxide), but really the best SPF for you is the one you actually enjoy wearing.
