Facing the long haul up the coast to Splendour, got us thinking … What’s the best way to pack for a festival? Especially when you’re looking at living out of the back of your car for days at a stretch. We asked those in the know for their tips and tricks…

Get your basics right
Pack undies. And lots of them. You never know when you’re going to get a chance to laundry (who has time for that, anyway?). Also: T-shirts and socks.

Don’t skimp on wet weather gear
Woodstock was famous for its muddy grounds and Splendour too is no stranger to a torrential downpour. The key here is to borrow the boy scout motto and always be prepared. Pack wipe-clean wet weather gear. Think combat boots, a rain-proof jacket

BYO cup for java
A road trip always means plenty of coffee and need for new H2O (among other refreshments) along the way. Just think of how many cups / bottles that eight (plus) hours on the road will need. Be sure to BYO reusable coffee cup / drink bottle for the road.

Pack by outfits
This is a tip we learnt from our style team. Keep in mind key pieces will work across different outfits. Your jeans can work with a crop or a jumper or even under a dress. You just need to make sure you’re happy with every option. You’ll also want stuff that you can layer and that easily tie around your waist. Shirts, knits, you know the drill.

Go for anything with pockets
The last thing you want to be hauling around a festival ground is excess baggage. Where possible, streamline. A credit card, phone and water bottle is all you really need to be taking on the go with you.
Now all you need to sort is your playlist.
