Help Is Here

For Those Who Aren’t Safer At Home.

For some Australians, more time at home doesn’t equal safety.  Tragically, in this country, we continue to have high rates of domestic violence and abuse.

If domestic violence is impacting you, or someone close to you, it’s important to know that you are not alone. And because of that, this May, the Australian Government launched the Help is Here campaign to ensure that all Australians affected by domestic violence and abuse know where to seek help, when they need it most.

As the Government says, “We know this is a stressful time for many. But stress, in any of its forms, is no excuse for domestic violence and abuse. Stress is no excuse for physical violence, or for psychological abuse or torment, including use of technology to harass or threaten others.

“Tough times do not excuse tougher times at home. Any experience of domestic violence is unacceptable, and there is no shame in seeking help when you need it.”

It’s also important to note that if you are self-isolating or required to isolate, but are in immediate danger, you can leave your house. Contact a domestic violence support service for advice about continuing to isolate in a safe place.
