We all remember our first time … Whether we want to or not. You’re nervous. You don’t know what those machines even do. And you sure don’t know what to wear. Some of us get it first time, are complete naturals. For others, well, face-planting is a regular occurrence.
While you can work hard to up your performance (and, potentially, balance), there are certain things you can control ... like turning up with all the right gear.
“Whatever you want,” one instructor told us when we checked in on what to wear to class. “You’re lying down most of the time anyway.” She was right, kind of. Sure you want to be comfortable, but not so comfie you catch up on your beauty sleep. Think tights, bike pants, crops or oversized tee’s – they’re all good. Oh, and socks. With grip if you need a little help in the balance stakes.
Here’s our top three try-not-to-leave-home-withouts:

With any luck, you’re going to work up a thirst in class. Keep your cool with an enviro-friendly bottle by your side. Hint: taking a sip is the perfect way to take a break. We usually do this when they call plank!

Socks with grip will make your Pilates life a whole lot easier. Plus, if you don’t bring your socks, they’re going to give you tissues to put on the soles of your feet when it comes time for feet in straps. Awkward.
