We caught up with the designers and directors behind four local labels to find out more about their upcoming collections.
How would you describe the collection in 3 words?
Curious, offbeat yet wearable.
Who are your designs intended for?
Everyone. We design interesting pieces that aren't contingent on trends or age groups. Each piece is open to one's own stylistic interpretation.
What was first and foremost on your mind when designing the range?
We had longevity and uniqueness in mind and we wanted to achieve this through design and fabrication.
What’s one particular detail from any piece of the collection that you’re particularly proud of?
Beautiful fabric and prints are the most important elements. There is never just one piece, as there is a collective thought process and experimentation behind each item. The value of the minds and hands that go into creating the collection is what we are proud of.
Do you have a favourite design from the range? If so, which one and how do you imagine it being worn?
One of our favourite looks is a cream and white take on the tuxedo suit, made with denim (coming soon!). It's not gender or age specific and can be worn in any way. That's the ideal and intention we have as the business evolves.
How would you describe the new collection in 3 words?
Minimal. Modern. Luxurian.
Who are your designs intended for?
A modern woman, equal parts: feminine and strong, sophisticated and sexy, style and substance.
What was first and foremost on your mind when designing the range?
To be a source of inspiration for the woman who is constantly evolving her style to suit her lifestyle, occasion and mood.
Are any of your pieces manufactured in Australia? Why is it important to you and your brand ethos to produce locally?
Yes, the majority of our collection each season is made locally in Sydney. We have close relationships with our team of talented local makers. We love that we can work so closely and collaboratively with them, and support the local industry at the same time. We are proudly accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia - producing locally is a part of our brand DNA.
What’s one particular detail from any piece of the collection that you’re particularly proud of?
The hero leather look of this collection is one of our favourites, not only for its strength, but also substance. The leather we sourced for this story is validated with the REALGRADE™. Just like the recognised Woolmark™, the REALGRADE™ is a joint initiative by all the New Zealand producers for the leather industry.
How would you describe the new collection in 3 words?
Reflective, soft, floaty.
Who are your designs intended for?
We design for emotive women who share a love for nostalgia and storytelling.
What was first and foremost on your mind when designing the range?
We are interested in the storytelling behind each collection, and how our customers will respond to our print and textiles
What’s one particular detail from any piece of the collection that you’re particularly proud of?
We pride ourselves on creating new textiles each season that keeps our customers intrigued and us inspired. One of our favourites is the Lacy Garden Print printed on the sheer organza and cut in full circles so the fabric floats and for me it’s like you are nestled deep in the garden.
Do you have a favourite design from the range? If so, which one and how do you imagine it being worn?
Lots of favourites but the Lacy Garden frill gown (coming soon), it would be the perfect dusk dress with your favourite things, and maybe a sprinkle of glitter on your eye to reflect in the sunlight :)
How would you describe the exclusive collection in 3 words?
Bright. Bold. Effortless.
Who are your designs intended for?
The designs are for the modern, sophisticated woman who appreciates effortless contemporary fashion.
What was first and foremost on your mind when designing the range?
Ensuring the designs suit the season, whilst also making sure they are aligned with what our woman desires.
Are any of your pieces manufactured in Australia?
Yes, the linen Spotty April Frill Mini Dress and the Ocean Jacquard Dress (coming soon) were both made by our Australian manufacturers. Producing some of our products in Australia allows for better control over the production process, which in the end, means we have greater control over the quality of product that is delivered. There are some things we are not able to produce locally due to machinery and technology. For example, knitwear is something we cannot make locally and specialty embellished fabrics.
What’s one particular detail from any piece of the collection that you’re particularly proud of?
Over the years I have designed many styles with bows on them, each year they seem to get bigger, bolder and brighter. I have included our signature one shoulder bow dress in this capsule in a bright neon pink colour (coming soon!). This is by far my favourite of all bow dresses we have made. It is a classic shape made strong and fun in this pink, perfect for most special occasions either night or day.
