Dad Denim. Yes Please.

The dark days aren’t over.

Cowboys, miners, dads and manual labourers unite. The original indigo trouser that was designed for those manly-men that got their hands dirty and fixed stuff is going back to its roots. Way back to where it all began. The dark cuffed-bottom denim beginning. The style our dads have been rocking as they potter around the backyard or shed. The style our dads have been telling us were cool back in their day to which we would roll our eyes and don a pair of tight, skinnies (much to their shock and horror). And, yes, the style that you swore you would never wear – well – you do in fact want to wear them now.

As comfort takes precedence over our need to emulate rock ’n’ rollers in their tight pants, we open the door of opportunity to the most hard-working pair of jeans since Levi’s dropped their 501s in 1873. Straight-up authentic Americano. Direct from the wild, wild west. A relaxed dark blue straight leg (or slim can pass too) more commonly known as the rugged jeans Marlon Brando wore in film The Wild One.

Although work-wear inspired, this dark denim is more than capable of riding you through all kinds of weather including elevated environments like work and after-dark play. Simply dust off your wood shavings, switch your dirty tee for a tropical collared short-sleeve shirt, a bucket hat, Chelsea boots and head to the local watering hole without a second thought.

The brilliance in the dark shade means entirely approps for everyday 9-5 as well. Need to jazz the signature cowboy slacks up? No probs. Team it with crisp blue-collar shirting. White sneaks and desert boots are fresh yet respectable.

When the temps drop, a loose-knit gives off an air of contemporary Boss Man. Can be worn with tan brogues if the office code suggests but don’t forget interesting socks in this case.

Top wearable tips are: don’t let your jeans puddle at the shoe. Opt for hem lengths that are tidy and turned up at the cuff to show off the selvedge contrast stitching.

Keep your baggier fits for casual and the slim alternatives for business.

Try to add streetwear influences where you can like Converse sneakers or a graphic tee to reduce looking too much like Robert Redford off Horse Whisperer.

And to nail search engine keywords try: raw dark indigo selvedge denim.
