The frosty mornings of winter have kicked in it’s easier than ever to hit snooze on your alarm clock and go back to sleep.
If, like me, you hate the idea of exercise, but love eating carbs in all their forms, here are some fun ways to get out of the house trick yourself into “exercising.”
1. No Lights, No Lycra
When Mark Twain first said, “dance like no-one is watching” he was probably inspired by No Lights, No Lycra. Think warehouse party meets nightclub, where you dance your heart out and work up a sweat with no judgement. Celebrating their 10th Birthday this year, it’s the ultimate place for self-expression mixed like a cocktail with joy, confetti and glitter.
2. Dance
Forget the smell of hairspray and everything you’ve seen on Dance Moms. Adult dance classes are a great way to get fit and meet a bunch of new people. From hip-hop to salsa there are a bunch of dance studios offering courses to live out your Disney Channel child-star dreams and will work you both, physically and mentally. Whether you’re an ex-ballerina just wanting to get back into pointe shoes or a novice who still has to hold up their hands to tell their left from their right, there’s a class for you.
3. Rollerblading
It’s time to put down your Opal Card and strap on some skates. One of the best exercises to work your cardiovascular system, skating requires balance (aka engage that core!), coordination and works your lower body. Plus you can glide by like a figure skater or pretend you're on a boardwalk in Venice Beach, California. Warning: safety equipment is needed, make elbow pads great again.
4. Rock climbing
A total body workout, rock climbing is a great way to make friends and push your mental limits. If you’re looking for a sport that will get you outdoors, and give you a million opportunities for Instagram shots this one is for you. You’ll be captioning ever pic with “loving the view from up here”, and officially changing your bio to “adventurer.”
Now the only thing you have left to worry about is what to wear and trust us, we got you covered.
