I, as much as you, would like to read something that isn't corona-based. And I’ll be totally honest, when I was briefed to write this article for long weekend fun-ness, COVID-19 was nowhere near as big a deal as it is at time of writing. So, it just seems sensible that we should be suggesting activities that aren’t going to contribute to the spread of this dangerous pandemic. Read on.
Backyard Cricket
Get your housemates together, wheel the bins into place, and ensure you’ve been practicing smashing sixes in your spare time. You may want to make friends with the neighbours as well, so getting your ball back from out-of-bounds is as simple as a ‘cooee’ over the fence.
Boardgames
To our parents’ incredulity, we’re all rediscovering the joy of boardgames like it’s some kind of novelty. If you don’t have any physical boardgames on hand, make it 2020 and opt for multiplayer games you can play with your friends online. Nice.
Virtual Party
Flex those 17-way Zoom conference call skills you’ve all been learning and share a drink with some pals via your computer screen. Sure, it’s nothing compared to the real thing of actually hanging out with your mates, but at least you get to see all their beautiful faces.
Cork&Chroma, home-style
On the theme of drinking (responsibly) pour some glasses of wine for your housemates, lay down some canvases, newspaper or old sheets, and crack open some paint and get stuck in. We’re sure the landlords will forgive the odd paint smear in times like this…
Learn, online
There are plenty of short online courses, no matter what you’re interested in. Use your extra time to learn that new skill you’ve had on your list forever and put it into action. Schedule a call with your pals after the course is completed to show them all you’ve learned.

Call Mum & Dad
Guys, just do it. They’re worried about you and they just wanna hear from you.
Long walks
If the outdoors are all that’s going to do it for you, find a new trail you may not have explored yet, chuck on your headphones, and go for a long, meditative walk.
Redownload gaming favourites
This coming from the gal who recently rediscovered her deep obsession with Age of Empires. Go for it guys — this is the one time you’re not gonna be judged for spending the whole weekend playing Fifa.
