All the major Fashion Weeks (Paris, Milan, New York and the like) may seem like they happened a long while ago, but I still think about them on the regular.
The thing I love most about fashion month is that it aligns with the southern hemisphere’s seasons. For the people up above, they have to wait six months to full tap into the latest runway trends. We, however, get to jump on them instantly.
I watched every runway show very closely this fashion month to track down what trends will be hot in six months’ time so we can jump on them now. Ready to feel like the most fashion-forward person in the world?
Follow me down this fashion rabbit hole.
1. Puff Sleeves
Just when you thought the trend had been forgotten, it came back in full force on the runways. In fact, puff sleeves have now become part of a new style called Renaissance-core (more on that another time).
2. Shorts Suits
It’s too hot to wear a full suit in summer, so designers have decided to create suits to be wearable when the weather is unbearable.
3. Micro Shorts
Remember these from the early 2000’s? The Kate Moss-esque trend is back, so expect to see a few people rocking them and showing some leg.
4. Almost Famous
Many designers channelled Penny Lane during fashion month, so dressing like you’re on the road with a cool band in the ‘70s seems like it’ll be a big trend this summer.
5. Simplicity
This particular trend is very minimalist and very wearable. These designers have said “you can literally pull this off the rack and wear it now”. Practical, easy to style - it’s a winning look.
6. Sheer
Sheer details were all over the runways this season and to be honest, it’s perfect for the Australian summer. Wear your sheer pieces with a luxe bralette to dinner and you’ll be the most stylish person in the room.
