5 Tips For Self Care When Travelling

Don't let your Self slide.

When you’re constantly shuffling from one flight, hotel or meeting to another your self-care routine has a tendency to hit the backburner. Yet if there is one thing we have learnt from too many days on the go, is that looking after yourself is one of the easiest ways to keep you feeling like you — regardless of how dishevelled that last taxi trip left you looking. Here are our top tips for self-care when travelling.

Plan
It’s up to you to effectively plan and then execute your self-care blueprint. Think about your trip and what that means for your usual routine and ensure you have the travel pack, pouch or bag that’s up to the task. Don’t get caught at security again.

Moisturise
Travel literally hoovers moisture out of your skin, especially air travel, thanks to those overzealous air-conditioning units. Make sure your keep hydrated by carrying a water bottle and ensure you top up with all your handy travel-sized lotions and potions.

Meditate
A proven way to help you balance body and mind. Apps such as Calm and Headspace offer guided meditation courses to help keep you focused and on task whilst wireless headphones will help you float off with ease.

Sleep
Traveling can seriously mess up your sleeping pattern so make sure you’re planning around your schedule to ensure you getting the pillow time you need to keep you functioning. Pack a few things to make that task easier.

Exercise
Whether you’re running along the beach, doing yoga 50 floors up or hitting a neighbourhood HIIT class; sweat, stretch and increase your heartrate periodically to keep that engine running at optimum efficiency.
