5 Thoughts We Had While Watching Us

Things we’re now suspicious about: people who click off beat, whistling (even the sweetest tune), our own reflection.

You can think you're the prettiest, most beautiful person in the world but Us will have you doubting your own reflection after the first few minutes. Written and directed by Jordan Peele and starring Lupita Nyong’o, Us is an American horror film so perfectly produced you can’t hide your eyes from it (because your entire body will literally be frozen in fear).

We survived the heart-stopping suspense, and without spoiling too much, here are our initial thoughts.

1. Firstly, GET OUT! 

Something we (as well as everyone else in the cinema) were thinking out loud maybe 95% of the time. The home invasion slash modern zombie apocalypse film will have you literally yelling directions at the characters from the safety of your cinema chair.

2. For a horror film, it's actually pretty funny. 

Praise be for Jordan Peele’s addition of comedic relief otherwise we would have passed out from holding our breath long ago.

3. Way to turn the least scary things into something eerie AF.

Scissors are easily one of the best household weapons; we’ll give you that. But fluffy bunnies, the backing track to I Got 5 On It, people who don’t click on beat, whistling nursery rhymes and basically any reflective surface will never be the same again.   

4. Honestly Alexa, what is the point of you?  

Aside from playing killer tracks (that we didn’t ask for), listening to our every word (often incorrectly) and potentially sharing our secrets with the government...  

5. Kind of want a jumpsuit now. 

Like with any good movie, it ends with a twist so good you’ll leave wondering whether red jumpsuits are really such a bad thing…
