Cradle Mountain - Tasmania
One of Australia’s most famous hikes, Cradle Mountain nonetheless still offers access to some of Tasmania’s most pristine wilderness, taking in incredible alpine rainforest, glacial lakes and the area’s surrounding farmland in the space of 80km.

Valley of the Winds - Northern Territory
Winter is prime hiking territory in the NT, and while both the surrounds of Uluru and the Katherine both feature walks that’ll make you feel like you’re in a forgotten world of dinosaurs, few walks deliver quite the bang for your buck as the Valley of the Winds does, which winds through the magnificent greenery of the Olgas.

Blue Gum Forest - NSW
NSW’s coast is replete with incredible walks, particularly in the Royal National Park, but the Blue Mountains are where the serious hikers go to get away from it all. The epitome of these scenic treks? The Blue Gum Forest track, which can be done in a day-trip if you’re speedy and takes you through some of the most pristine forest in the entire range.

The Bibbulmun Track - WA
One for the serious walkers, the Bibbulmun track is a 1,000-kilometer hike that can take anywhere up to eight weeks to complete, depending on how committed you are. Incredibly, it’s signposted the whole way, and the reward is a near-complete tour of southern WA’s incredible coastline.
