Too much of a good thing? No such thing. As the rings on our fingers breed and our earrings creep up our lobes, we want more, more, more. But, how to wear the stacked jewellery trend?
We checked in with By Charlotte’s founder, Charlotte Blakeney for the low-down. Her delicate jewellery is the stuff wish lists are made of, and among her fans are Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Georgia May Jagger and Shanina Shaik.
Stacked earrings – in your mind, are there any rules to getting this right?
“As a rule, I tend to layer from largest to smallest. I always suggest starting with your largest earring, which will usually be a hoop, and then working your way up the ear to smaller hoops and huggies, and finishing with gorgeous little studs.”
And necklaces?
“The more the merrier! Choose a delicate choker and then adorn in larger pendants to sit lower down the neck. We have a number of necklaces that are double chained so it looks as though you are wearing two necklaces in one, which takes layering to another level. A mix of metals can also look beautiful, so don’t be afraid to mix gold and silver.”
And, finally, rings?
“I honestly think anything goes! Multiple rings on one finger, different coloured crystals, shapes and sizes look incredible together. Just don’t forget to add a ring to your thumb to complete the look!”
And, given the gifting season is upon us, let us ask: when buying jewellery for a friend, tips to find the perfect piece?
“A personal touch always sets your gift apart, which is why we created our Love Letter range which features each letter of the alphabet, as well as our birthstone necklaces. Gifting jewellery that holds that personal element is a beautiful way for your gift to be truly sentimental.”
And what about yourself?
“I’ve always found jewellery to be a beautiful way to express how you’re feeling. I love to adorn in jewels that speak to me on a deeper level, which is why I always choose to wear pieces that hold a mantra or symbolise something important to me.”
