Why We’re Still So Obsessed With Mariah Carey

The Queen of Christmas and possibly the biggest diva in the music industry.

There are two types of people at Christmas; the ones whose ears bleed as soon as they hear the unmistakeable jingle of bells at the start of Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas is You, and the ones who belt out every note regardless of whether they’ve got the vocal range or not. We are the latter. Mimi is our Queen and not just during the jolly season either.

Our obsession started as soon as we heard her earlier songs like Hero, Emotions and Dreamlover, and has never really stopped.

Sure, the rumours that she’s a Diva with a capital D are true – who could forget when she acted like she’d never heard of J-Lo before, or her “rule” where she won’t be seen in fluorescent lights without sunglasses, among many others.

But some of her requests are actually quite relatable – like planning her “work” day to fit around her napping schedule (definitely something we’ll be bringing up in our next 1:1 with boss) and being wheeled around in an office chair (reminder: ask boss for interns too).
