Fitness crazes usually don’t last long; they come and go depending on which celebrity loves them and how much airtime they get on social media. However, we think we’ve found a new sustainable fitness trend that is here to stay. Say hello to Plogging!
What is Plogging?
Combining exercise and picking up littering, Plogging originated in Sweden back in 2016 but it’s only now starting to hit our shores. Named after the words ‘jogging’ and ‘plocka upp’ (which is Swedish for ‘pick up’) this new workout is not only great for your body but it also helps care for our environment, giving us a remedy for our collective ‘eco-anxiety’.
Why is it good for us?
Physically, bending down to pick up any rubbish uses core muscles and if you incorporate squats and lunges into the mix it becomes an all-body workout.
How to get involved?
The beauty of plogging is that you can do it solo. Need some inspo? Check out the 108k #plogging posts on Instagram and you’ll want to pull your running shoes on stat.
