What's In Our Bag For 2019

This is our list, but feel free to rip it off and call it your own.

There are certain types of people in this life. The kind who always have a spare. A quick look in their cupboards will reveal doubles of the essentials. Toothpaste. Shampoo. You name it, they’ve got it.

These are the people, we imagine, who write to-do lists instead of the ta-ah lists we write - the list where we ONLY write down things we have already done and tick it off with a ‘ta-dah!’. We’re the kind who shops on the fly, who runs out on the regular. So, we checked in with these organised folk in the hope of getting a glimpse of what makes their world tick. Of all the men we canvassed, they all came back with the same consensus. They’re rather do one massive shop and then just top up as they feel like it.

“Do one shop, and do it right,” one told us.

“I just write a list of what I need and wait for a sale,” said another. “Then I sort it all at once.”

“There’s stuff I need every year.  A suit and shirt for work, weekend wear, the usual drill. Once I’ve got that, I can shop as I feel like it throughout the year, knowing I’m just topping up what already works.”

So, what’s in their  yearly buy? The word is you need to cover all bases and most seasons (unless you call Tropical North Queensland home…). Think summer and winter denim, the jeans you’ll live in all year round, an all-white outfit, and streetwear you can pass off no matter what the style calls for.  Something more clean cut and something to bum around in on weekends. Beachwear, boardies and shirts – don’t forget the short sleeves. The list feels endless, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s your edit.

Here’s a few of our favourite picks to get the party started.

Play a strong t-shirt game
Something strong, something striped, something classic.

The answer to every occasion
In the shirting department, go for a casual linen shirt for the weekend and a dress shirt for times when you really should iron.

Something to get the party started
Party shirts … Because we felt they definitely needed their own category. It’s all about the good times, after all.

Wear the pants
Go for something weekend-worthy, but will also meet your work dress codes. Chinos are a go, and always make sure your go-to denim is in the mix. Don’t underestimate, either, the power of the white pants.

Get your kicks
Go occasion-based for this. You need some comfy kicks, some slides and something to rock to work.

The chill factor
Set your dial to relax with sportswear and beach wear that you can mix any way you feel it.
