Turning Trash Into Chucks

Renew your shoe collection with Converse's more sustainable line.

We all know Chucks have been around for generations – Kurt Cobain wouldn’t be caught without his – and as new generations discover their beat-up appeal, it’s obvious Converse sneakers have staying power, so like many brands today, the label has been looking for a more responsible way to produce their signature silhouettes. According to Converse’s mantra, “There’s always a way to renew what we do.”

Converse have created “a new way for a new generation” to wear their classic Chucks. The aptly named RENEW collection gives trash a second life so that it ends up on our feet and not in our oceans or landfill – the range has a lighter impact by recycling waste materials to create the same styles we know and love.

“We started with bottles, then denim – now we’re transforming waste cotton into a twisted take on our iconic Chucks. Made from about 30% to 40% manufacturing waste canvas, the recycling process creates a texture unique to Renew.” their iconic Chuck shape is then finished with a distinctive speckled outsole made from regrind recycled rubber.

Born to be distinctive, the colors take their cues from the earth. Take your pick of second life Chucks designed for those who care about our planet.
