Tortoiseshell Print: Why We Can’t Help but Want More

Another animal-inspired print to add to the collection

Not to be mistaken for actual shell from a tortoise (sadly this did happen back in the day, but thankfully has ceased since the 70’s – not soon enough, we know), the tortoiseshell-inspired pattern is a timeless trend and it’s clear to see why.

Like classic leopard and python prints, the mottled brown, warm honey and black-speckled shades of tortoiseshell make it a well-accepted member of the neutrals club.

The print has ruled the eyewear market since way back – where they branched out further and introduced a lighter tan-coloured variation we know as Havana – but now we’re so obsessed with the look we’ve welcomed it into the rest of our wardrobe.

From earrings to watch faces, bags to the buttons on our clothes, and even the heels of our shoes – tortoiseshell print is everywhere and we just can't get enough.
