Looking for your next adrenaline fix? Well, move aside skydiving and V8 car racing, these five high-octane sports have your name written all over them.

Speed riding
What is it? A mixture between parachuting and skiing; you basically strap on a wing-shaped canopy and ski down the side of a mountain. If it’s too steep, or if there’s a drop off, just lift yourself up using the parachute (or speed wing) and land somewhere lower.
Why you’ll love it: It’s unpredictable and you’ll reach incredible speeds, while accessing parts of mountains that were previously off-limits.

Free soloing
What is it? If you’ve seen Alex Honnold's amazing climb of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, you know that free soloing is not for the feint of heart. It’s climbing a wall, mountain, cliff face with no ropes or safety at all. Nada.
Why you’ll love it: It’s the ultimate human vs nature contest. And the possibly of falling is so immediate it’ll make your blood rise the moment you lift your feet off the ground.

Volcano boarding
What is it? Mix lava, a snowboard and a steep descent. Choose your volcano well though as boarding down next to molten lava isn’t advisable.
Why you’ll love it: Despite this being a tourist activity in places like Central America, volcano boarding is actually pretty dangerous and avoiding the world’s worst gravel rash is a good adrenaline boost.

Wingsuit flying
What is it? Throwing yourself off a mountain wearing a webbed suit that increases your body’s surface area so you essentially glide like an eagle.
Why you’ll love it: Because it’s ridiculous. If you’re looking for an adrenaline hit, you’ll find it as you willingly throw yourself off a cliff, hoping the wind will carry you to safety.

Free diving
What is it? Diving deep into water using only one breath to see how far down you can swim. The world record is currently 145 metres!
Why you’ll love it: It’s a mind over matter kinda thing and has been likened to meditation, but knowing that you can’t simply come back up whenever you like (because of the risk of the bends) will make your heart beat a little faster.
