If there’s one thing we love doing on a lazy weekend, it’s binge watching a home renovation show. And while stripping it down to the studs probably isn’t on the cards anytime soon, the right homewares can make a world of difference to the look and feel of your space. Ahead, our edit of the best shows to watch for interior design inspiration.

Selling Sunset (Netflix)
With five seasons, a spinoff in the works and a cast that’s been catapulted to superstar status, Selling Sunset has well and truly cemented its spot in the pop culture zeitgeist. For those of us who’ve *somehow* dodged the hype, Selling Sunset follows the elite agents of The Oppenheim Group as they sell luxurious houses to LA’s most affluent. And while it’s easy to get caught up in the drama (and wardrobes!) of Christine, Chrishell and co., we’re equally obsessed with the staging and styling it takes to sell these multi-million dollar properties.

Tidying Up with Marie Kondo (Netflix)
While, at a glance, this Emmy-nominated show might tempt you to do away with anything that doesn’t ‘spark joy’, Kondo’s core message is a little more nuanced. Declutter, yes, but decide what to keep based on how it makes you feel. Does it make you feel warm, comforted, or inspired? Then it makes the cut. When redoing a space, take a leaf out of Tidying Up’s book and invest in objects that are both beautiful and functional. Our pick? A timeless set of quality table linen from Country Road.

Queer Eye (More than a Makeover) (Netflix)
One of the few reboots that runs rings around the OG. Queer Eye 2.0 sees the Fab Five guide each episode’s ‘hero’ through a heartfelt life makeover. From discovering personal style to rekindling relationships to learning how to prioritise self care, the Queer Eye crew do it all. Speaking of doing it all, there goes interior design guru Bobby Berk carrying the show on his back through some strategically-placed cushions and throws.

Motel Makeover (Netflix)
A generous mini bar and fluffy robe’s all well and good, but thoughtful decor can take a motel room from average to amazing – and the same formula works just fine at home, too. BFFs-turned-business partners Sarah Sklash and April Brown set out to transform a tired Ontario motel into an Insta-worthy getaway, with pandemic challenges thrown in for good measure. The duo learn a LOT over the six-episode run, including the euphoria of finding the perfect bed linen palette. Get that crisp, clean king suite aesthetic at home with fresh white sheets from Sheridan.

Luxe Listings Sydney (Amazon)
Closer to home but no less eye watering, Luxe Listings Sydney gives us a glimpse into the lives and listings of some of Sydney’s elite real estate agents. Mega mansions on billionaire’s row might be outside our wheelhouse, but the power of some well-placed wall art is something we can all get behind.
