Well, what a year it’s been for SneakerHub. Since launching onto the scene, we have hit the ground running, becoming a go-to for all things streetwear.
The last 12 months have seen our sneaker and apparel lineup grow, welcoming new brands into the SneakerHub family. And let’s not forget the SneakerHub launch party – the perfect way to celebrate what we’re really about.
Sneaker by Name, Sneaker by Nature
As the saying goes, it’s all in a name. And SneakerHub came out of the gate championing all things sneakers. From the outset, industry heavyweights and indie brands alike found a place on SneakerHub’s digital shelves, forging an eclectic collection that defined the newcomer’s place in the sneaker and streetwear landscape.
Heroing the latest and greatest tech and models has been a modus operandi from the get go. The New Balance 990v5 and ASICS GEL-Quantum 360 5 came correct as the next in line to the 99x and GEL thrones respectively, while Max- and BOOST-bolstered models did the hard yards for Nike and adidas. As the months progressed, brands like Novesta and Age joined the ranks, and solidified the SneakerHub lineup.
Bring the Knowledge
There’s more to making your mark than having the right product on offer, and SneakerHub’s editorial offering was the secret weapon. Fuelled by Sneaker Freaker’s knowledge and panache, SneakerHub covered the latest releases, hottest news, and untold stories of the sneaker world.
The year started with a bang, with New Balance’s design manager Samuel Pearce expounding the evolution of the X-90, while NB’s Eric Vassell followed in June to give Newbie fans the lowdown on the 990v5.
The highlights don’t stop there. Reebok’s Instapump and PUMA’s CELL were put under the microscope, and a light was shone on the Converse Renew project. The streetwear stories worth telling got their time in the spotlight: from Saucony’s Aya and Azura revival and Karhu’s Finnish pride, to Kappa and Champion’s rag trade legacies.
Kitted Up
While there’s plenty of talk about sneakers, a look isn’t complete without the right apparel, and SneakerHub brought the goods on that front too. Spanning the gamut from everyday basics to haute streetwear, SneakerHub’s apparel offering went from strength to strength in 2019.
Keeping things steady were dependables like adidas Originals and Reigning Champ, while Norse Projects, Wood Wood and White Mountaineering also played their role. Catapulting streetwear into the stratosphere, Christopher Raeburn jumped on-board with his high-end eco-friendly wares.
Three, Two, One… Lift-off Launch Party!
In a year of highlights, one moment still comes out on top, and that is the SneakerHub launch party back in September. Held in a Melbourne karaoke bar, with Sneaker Freaker on hand to help out with the festivities, punters had their pick of activations. From the New Balance gif booth and the Champion cherry blossom grove, to the Reebok shoe train and adidas AR experience, there was something for everyone.
That’s a wrap on 2019, and all the memories it brought along with it. See you in 2020!
