Sure if you’re a beauty buff this might be common knowledge, but for those of us still learning, here are some fun facts to commit to memory.
1. Serums are best applied first in your skincare routine.
The order in which you apply your skincare products makes a big difference in how well they work. Moisturisers are a lot thicker than serums so serums should be applied first to allow them to properly penetrate your skin’s dermis layer.
2. Green pigments diminish redness in your skin.
Think of colour correcting as you would a colour wheel. Red and green are opposites so they cancel each other out leaving a neutral base.
3. Mascara should be replaced every 3 months.
Not just when you run out! Mascaras can be breeding grounds for bacteria that can cause eye irritation and infections. We recommend switching to a new one after 3 months of use.
4. Makeup brushes need a weekly clean, minimum.
Brushes should be cleaned as often as possible, but if you’re using it every day a weekly clean is recommended to avoid bacteria build up.
5. Primer is your best friend, especially if you wear makeup.
Applying a good primer first not only assists makeup longevity (staying power) but also helps fill in large pores, smoothing your skin’s appearance.
6. Sunscreen is not just for sunny days, it’s for every day.
Daily application of SPF helps keep your skin safe from UV damage, regardless of whether the sun is shining brightly or hidden behind clouds. With a sun as harsh as ours, we really can’t afford to forego this step in any kind of weather.
7. Good skincare application doesn’t stop at your face.
The décolletage (neck and upper chest area) is actually one of the fastest areas of your skin to age and is often forgotten about in many skincare routines.
