Our Royal Baby Name Predictions

What would you name your little prince or princess?

With baby Sussex’s due date approaching and duchess maternity fashion-watch at its peak, we’re starting to speculate about the name Meghan and Harry will give to the newest royal.

Although the child most likely won’t be a reigning monarch, the new addition will still be seventh in line to the throne, shunting the Queen’s own son, Prince Andrew, down a spot to eighth place. Wonder what Gary Janetti will make of that...

We know Meghan does things her own way, so will they opt for something traditional, or will she continue to put her progressive stamp on the world’s most-watched family?

Here are our predictions:

If it’s a girl...

Rachel
This classic, old testament name is one Meghan wore for seven years on hit show Suits and, coincidentally, is the former actress’ first name IRL. We predict it might make a special appearance in the mini royal’s moniker.

Frances
A tribute to Harry’s beloved mother, and ultimate style icon, Lady Diana Spencer, is expected. Princess Charlotte’s already has Diana in her name, so Frances, her middle name, would be a nod to her legacy.

Serena
It’s no secret that Meghan is friends with one of the world’s best athletes – she’s regularly seen courtside, supporting the tennis pro and wearing her designs. We think the name Serena is grand enough for a lady.

Natalie Marie
One of Meg’s favourite jewellery brands – she loves Sydney-based goldsmith, Natalie Marie's, delicate pieces so much she posted on the 'gram about them. Back when she was free to ‘gram, that is.

If it’s a boy...

Dumbo
Bear with us! Prince Harry’s son or daughter won’t automatically hold the title of Prince or Princess, unless the Queen steps in as she did for William’s three children. The title for Prince Harry’s son will be the Earl of Dumbarton. We predict a school nickname.

Michael
How can we forget Meghan’s Suits husband Mike? Before her wedding last year, actor Patrick J. Adams wished her well on Twitter. “Playing Meghan’s television partner for the better part of a decade uniquely qualifies me to say this: Your Royal Highness, you are a lucky man and I know your long life together will be joyful, productive and hilarious. Meghan, so happy for you, friend. Much love.”

William
Just two years apart, Harry has always been close to his only brother and Wills’ wife Catherine, despite reports of a rift that’s seen them dividing their offices and moving to the country.

Charles
Already one of Harry’s middle names, and the name of his father, the next King and current Prince of Wales, Charles is likely to make an appearance.
