Summer might be the best season for BBQs and beaching, but it’s not necessarily the best time of year for getting out and staying outside. Autumn however, with its cooler climes, affords us the opportunity to explore our surroundings without fear of being burnt to a crisp.
So whether you're in the winery hills of Adelaide, the Western waters of Perth or the bushland of Queensland, make sure you’re making the most of our beautiful country.

1. Hike it to the top of a mountain
Australia benefits from a plethora of mountain ranges meaning you’ll likely have some sort of access to a range or walking spot regardless of where you live. The Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory, The Bay of Fires Lodge Walk in Tasmania, the Scenic Rim Trail in Queensland and the Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk in Victoria are just a few of our favourites.

2. Take to the seas
85% of Australians live within 50km of the coast so it’s hard to ignore the big blue oceans that fringe the shores of this amazing country. Autumn is one of the best times to take to the seas. Whether diving beneath the waves or skimming along the surface following the migration trails of whales and dolphins, we urge you to take in some salty sea air. Our spots of choice include the Whitsunday Islands, Port Jackson Bay, Port Douglas, Townsville and Gippsland Lakes.

3. Get Sweaty
Kayaking, cricket, footie, beach boot camps and beyond; getting sweaty is always easier in autumn wherever you are in Australia. With most sporting seasons ramping up after the summer heat has passed, there is no better time to join a club and meet some new people. Or, just grab a few mates and head to the park.
