Whether it’s the desire for dewy skin or a by-product of Madison Beer’s viral makeup routine – the hashtag #madisonbeermakeup is currently sitting at 41.6 million views on TikTok – there’s been a major shift in what we want out of our base products. Where we once craved products with full coverage and a matte finish, we now look for sheer, lightweight formulas with a glowy finish that looks like real skin. This brings me to the rise of the skin tint, the ultra-sheer, effortless alternative to foundation.
So, when Australian sunscreen brand Ultra Violette announced that they were adding a tinted skin veil to their already impressive repertoire of products, obviously we had to put it to the test.
Introducing, Ultra Violette Dream Screen Tinted Veil.

Left: without Dream Screen. Right: wearing Dream Screen
What is it?
Ultra Violette Dream Screen Tinted Veil is a lightweight, tinted skin serum with SPF 50 UVA and UVB protection. It claims to have a sheer, buildable coverage with a radiant finish that won’t get oily or patchy while you wear it throughout the day. The formula contains Kakadu Plum, which is rich in vitamin C and incredibly hydrating.
It comes in 11 shades which are designed to be flexible enough to adapt to your skin tone, meaning you could easily switch between a few different shades without looking like an amateur. This is very useful information for anyone who is unsure of their shade or uses fake tan religiously. I tried the shade V3.
How do you apply it?
You can apply Dream Screen Tinted Veil over your sunscreen – yes, you still need to wear your usual sunscreen underneath the product – with a dry sponge or your fingertips. I used my fingertips as I prefer a skin tint to effortlessly fit in as the final step of my skincare routine.
Although Dream Screen contains broad spectrum SPF 50 protection, application of sunscreen underneath the product ensures you’re adequately protected from both UVA and UVB rays. Think of Dream Screen’s SPF as an extra dose of protection for your skin.
How does it feel?
Honestly, this really does feel like a skincare serum. The consistency is super lightweight and it glides over the skin seamlessly, very similar to the feel of Ultra Violette Queen Screen. After application (which took a total of 10 seconds) you could easily forget you’re wearing any makeup at all.
My skin is combination as it’s dry but also acne-prone, so I can’t speak to how this would sit on a very oily skin type, but the addition of Kakadu Plum makes this formula feel incredibly hydrating. It didn’t cling to any dry patches and it truly felt like skincare.
And the finish?
Fresh, dewy and undetectable. It looks just like your real skin, only more radiant and with a hint of coverage. I patted some extra product on top of a few old acne scars for more coverage and while it definitely blurred their appearance, if I was going out I’d just add concealer to those areas for more coverage.
What about the wear?
The one thing that I dislike about skin tints is that they tend to disappear within a few hours. So, for me, this was the biggest test. After wearing Dream Screen Tinted Veil for 6 hours I can confirm that my glow stayed put.
The verdict
This is an excellent product if you’re looking for an everyday base that gives your skin a beautiful, glowy finish and feels weightless. As an Estée Lauder Double Wear girl, I love coverage, but this gave me enough to feel like I could bump into an ex-boyfriend without dying on the inside immediately after.
Will I wear Dream Screen Tinted Veil after this review? Absolutely. I’d wear it on its own to brunch or a walk with friends, and I would add concealer and set it with a powder if I was heading to dinner or a long lunch.
