Looking after your sportswear so it ages gracefully and looks good (no fading or stretching, please), you will not only be saving dollars, you’ll also help save the planet and your clothes will last longer. Bonus.
1. Wash them right away
Unlike your day clothes which can sit in the dirty laundry basket for a week until you do a load, sportswear is best washed immediately. Once you get home throw it in the washing machine right away to avoid moisture and odour damaging the fabric. Dry it in the shade so it doesn’t fade.
2. Blitz smells ASAP
It’s a fact. We all sweat. And you might notice that after a while your sportswear can start to smell like your armpits. To freshen them up, just add a tablespoon of white vinegar to your wash. It’s like magic unicorn dust and it takes all the smells away.
3. Don’t forget your gear
It’s not just your leggings that need to be looked after. Don’t forget to wipe down your sports gear as well, whether that is a yoga mat, kettle bells or cricket bat. Use a combination of organic soap and a few drops of lavender essential oil and wipe them down once or twice a week (or after each workout if you’re a sweating machine).
