Once upon a time, anything anyone known as ‘Dad’ wore was a major embarrassment. Especially to the then-14-year-olds among us. Only now do we realise how wrong we are.
Older and (arguably) wiser, it’s Dad’s wardrobe that’s on our want list.
The chunky dad sneakers. The ready-to-party shirts. The baggy jeans. The oversized tailoring. Denim on denim on denim. All now on high rotation, much to his surprise.
When it comes to Dad Style, there are, though, some guys who made it cool the first time around (sorry Dad, you weren’t one of them). Tom Selleck for example. The former model who went on to give the gift that keeps on giving: Magnum PI (the original).
He was Thomas Magnum, the smooth-talking, aloha-shirt-wearing private investigator who called Hawaii home. With a moustache, a Detroit Tigers Cap and a Ferrari 308 GTS, he was a man on the go, no matter if he was working hard or hardly working...

Regardless, as Magnum, his was Dad style at its peak.
Here’s a few of his style go-to’s we’re unashamed borrow and call our own.

Did someone say Aloha? The party shirt - complete with a tropical floral print - is more about drinks than deadlines. It’s the perfect way to feel like your Out Of Office is switched to on (even when it isn’t).

Dad sneakers are nothing new. We’ve been wearing them for the last year or so and Dad, well, he’s been rocking them since 1981. Long live the chunky soul. Team them with denim, or, ladies, with your fave slip dress. Our most comfortable throwback.
