Things move pretty quickly at Atmos&Here. And while the team spend their days creating you your perfect wardrobe, their own need to be effortless enough for busy days of meetings, designing and fit sessions. We caught up with the female driving force behind the exclusive, trend-led label to find out how their wardrobes keep up.
Monday sets the pace for the rest of the week.
“It’s always the busiest day. We review the previous week and are reacting very quickly to what has performed and not,” says Eimear Delvin, Assistant Buyer.
“It’s the morning where we dissect how our customers shopped over the past week and what we can do to support and react to that,” says Nirosh Navendra, Buyer.
Interpreting seasonal trends in an attainable way that everyone can wear is essential to the brand. “We are inspired by the catwalks and mirror these to build our trends for the season,” Eimear tells us.
“The Atmos girl likes to try seasonal trends in a wearable way, not extreme versions of them,” explains Rebecca Sargent, Buyer.
Eimear confirms, “She is feminine and classic but also loves a trend piece – we always create ranges with this in mind to ensure we are giving her what she loves. Our focus is always the customer. It’s about how we adapt a trend to fit her lifestyle and needs.”
The team’s diaries are back-to-back with appointments and it’s essential that their closets are pulled-together without getting in the way.
“Versatility is the number one thing that I need from my wardrobe,” Tania Ghanem, Junior Buyer tells us. “With such a busy schedule, I usually need my outfit to take me from my 8:00am morning meeting, right up until drinks with the girls on a Thursday evening.”
Rebecca agrees. “My wardrobe needs to be versatile and adaptable. I like to be able to throw anything together. My personal style is pretty casual – jeans with heels or dresses with trainers, but I just can’t get away with Dad sneakers. Everyone else looks amazing in them!”
The team comes from diverse career backgrounds, with experience all over the world. Buying Manager, Jalda Azad took her first steps into the industry more than ten years ago while still at university.
“My career in fashion actually started as a fit model. Working with the designers and product managers behind the scenes was super interesting and opened a different career opportunity to the traditional path you would choose after studying economics and business studies. I then moved to Berlin and worked for Europe’s number one ecommerce platform for five years before I moved to Sydney. I love working in a super fast paced environment. New ideas and changes can be implemented quickly and no two days are the same.”
When it comes to bringing a collection together, it’s a multi-faceted but satisfying process. “The product is my favourite part of the job. Seeing the vision come to life is so exciting,” Junior Buyer, Tania Ghanem tells us. “This [pictured above] is my favourite blazer in our range. The neutral colour is a key shade of the season and it’s so versatile with the added waist tie. Everyone needs a camel blazer this winter.” Jalda adds, “I love keeping my blazer quite sporty by wearing it over cycling shorts with sneakers.”
“It’s about being hands-on with the product to make the fit great and the quality up to our standards.” Leah Jones, Garment Technician. “Fit days are the busiest for me. Organising the samples, fitting them on the body and then communicating the comments to the suppliers and factories to make any changes.”
While weekdays are for blazers and effortless separates, what does the weekend look like?
“My wardrobe doesn’t really differ on weekends,” says Lauren Holmes, Category Admin. “It’s great being able to work in an environment where my weekend looks can also be my work clothes.”
Whereas Emma Hardy, Assistant Buyer's off-duty look is a little more laid-back. “My weekend wardrobe is activewear... Unless I am heading out then I will dress up! I love Rozalia Russian’s style and the way she puts outfits together,” says Emma.
But the team’s ultimate style inspiration? Alexa Chung. “She’s so cool, she looks amazing in everything she wears.”
