A Look at What’s to Come from Your Favourite Labels

To open the show, CAMILLA AND MARC sent models strutting down a red clay catwalk with the moon shining bright in the background, wearing looks that were literally out of this world. We saw structured tailoring combined with sheer knit dresses, a double denim outfit to die for, but what caught our eye the most were the elaborately oversized bags that we can’t wait to get our hands on.

To complement Alice McCall’s flirty style, smokey-eyed models floated down a pristine purple runway wearing the cocktail-ready collection only dreams are made of. Expect to see coordinating separates, completely sheer outfits and a whole lot of frills and ruffles at upcoming events because everyone will want a piece of this range.

Carriageworks was transformed into a field of flowers for We Are Kindred on Day 3 of MBFWA. Huge bouquets trimmed the mirror floors and reflected the romantic floral prints and sugary colour palette of their Resort ‘19 collection. Fabrics were light and floaty, outfits left us in awe, but the best part of the show was seeing the mini-me versions.

The label put an Australian spin on their Garden of Eden inspiration, focusing on earthy tones, snakeskin patterns and native floral prints. The collection confirmed that conservative is out the door and sheer dressing is the new trend. Oh, and stop skipping leg day because hot pants are also on the rise.

If this collection is anything to go by, it’s safe to say the colour red is staying on the what’s hot list. The top trends we’re taking away from this show includes the reinvention of this year’s must-have grey check blazer teamed with bright red stockings, the pinstripe power suit, and of course, double denim.

In true Romance Was Born style, the Resort ‘19 collection was nothing short of magical. Guests wined and dined at Restaurant Hubert while models posed playfully on a star-spangled stage. The label stuck to their usual creative style and delivered a collection of extravagant dresses in a rainbow of colours that ranged from soft lemon sorbet to deep fuchsia and absolutely everything in between.

Christopher Esber’s Resort ‘19 collection was the perfect example of his signature deconstructed style at its best. Sleeves were missing, skin was exposed and panels of lace filled sections where fabric seemed to be missing, yet every look was very much premium and polished.

To close the event, Camilla went out with a bang, literally. Giant Japanese drums were beating, a cherry blossom tree stood tall in the centre of the room and sprinkled petals over the runway while dancers performed in traditional dress and models showcased Camilla’s most exciting collection to date.
