5 Daily Practices To Boost Your Energy When The 3pm Lull Hits

No coffee necessary.

We’re just going to say it – life can be challenging and chaotic at times. Whether it's dealing with daily stressors; like running late to work, thinking of what to cook for dinner, or rushing to get the kids to school, it’s no secret our mental well-being is always being tested. This can ultimately put a damper on our energy levels and decrease our mood throughout the day.

Self-care and wellness trends have been on the rise, as people are starting to focus on their mental well-being by welcoming more positivity into their lives, and raising their vibration.

‘Vibration’ is a state of being which is linked to our emotions. When our vibration is high, our mood is good, we feel happy and positive, we flourish, and we are more productive. When our vibration is low, we feel a sense of heaviness, and things feel more chaotic which can often lead to stress, anger, negative thinking, and low energy.

It’s important to acknowledge the moments when our energy is low, as these moments are inevitable in life – we are human after all. But with the help of easy-to-do and low-cost daily vibration raising practices, we can turn those low energy moods into high rising vibrations.

1. Meditation

An increase in brain function, clarity and improved energy levels are just some of the many reasons why we should be including meditation into our daily routine. The best thing? You don’t have to spend hours meditating in order to reap in the benefits, it can be as simple as a 10 minute yoga sequence or 1 minute breathing technique. Guided meditation apps like Headspace can teach you the life-changing skills of meditation and mindfulness in just a few minutes a day from the comfort of your home. But for those seeking to put down their phones, consider taking a class with Leah Simmons, pilates and yoga instructor and founder of KAAIAA – a transformational workout program hosted at her studio space located in Sydney's Bondi Beach. 2. Show gratitude

Reflecting on the things we are grateful for can cause a powerful shift in our energetic and emotional levels. Journaling is one of the best ways to practise this, as the physical act of writing things down can create a positive mindset and overall raise our vibration.

3. Get outdoors

There’s something about being out in the fresh air that does wonders for the soul. Whether it’s going for a brisk walk or simply sitting outside, getting outdoors has a positive effect on our mental health and can help boost our overall mood. Getting our daily dose of vitamin D has also been known to increase serotonin levels (a natural mood stabiliser that controls wellbeing and happiness) helping us stay positive and feeling good throughout the day.

4. Exercise

It’s no secret regular exercise is a great way to increase our mood. Have you ever left the gym or workout class and said “I regret that session”? No. When endorphins are released, this triggers a positive feeling within the body and leaves us feeling more energised. Exercise has also been known to help improve our sleep which means we are more likely to feel refreshed and energised for the day ahead of us.

5. Get social

Feeling low? Whether working from home or in the office, social interaction with a close friend, family member, colleague or even a fur baby is a great way to boost our energy levels and raise our vibration. How? Being sociable can in fact increase our sense of happiness and overall well-being. Have you ever felt sad or low after catching up with your bff? We didn’t think so. The next time you’re in low spirits, call up your best pal and organise a walk and talk, or arrange to meet up for a coffee date or girls night out (or in).
