3 Easy Steps To Set Your Table For Summer Entertaining

How to keep it simple this party season, but still make an impact.

Does the concept of a dinner party fill you with dread or delight? If you’re not overjoyed to be hosting Christmas this year (or any of the other festive-focused get togethers on the horizon this summer) rest assured that being the perfect party host doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, following this simple formula is a near-guarantee that your table can be dressed to impress with very little stress involved.

1. Table linen

Hide the motley crew of scuff marks and stains on your tabletop with a crisp tablecloth. While white’s the traditional, these days table linen comes in a rainbow of different shades to suit whatever palette takes your fancy for the evening and is easily layered for extra oomph. Keep things classic with heavy plain linen from the likes of IN BED or Linen House or trick up your table (especially in light of the summer months) with a vibrant print, like those from Mosey Me. And don’t forget the napkins! Embrace simplicity with matching table linens, or choose to make a statement with a clashing hue.

2. Dinnerware

Your plates and cutlery are just as important as the feast itself! Spice up your table setting with a collection of statement-making platters, bowls, and plates. Matching collections of dinnerware (or those embracing a similar selection of hues) are often a more formal option if it’s a special occasion. Though you’re welcome to keep things casual instead, turning towards a gathering of different textures, materials and tones, like those from Maison Balzac, will make your dinner party pop.

3. The centrepiece

Last but certainly not least comes the centrepiece. An easy way to elevate your dining table, and transform it for a special event (or just a memorable meal). Scattered bunches of flowers in vases (or even clear jars or old bottles if you have them), alongside candles make for a main feature which is not only easy on the eye but on the nose – this might be the perfect time to whip out those heirloom candlesticks. Just remember to aim for more subtle scents that don’t overpower the food, like those from Black Blaze.
