2021 Fashion Is Looking A Lot Like The Early 2000s…

We share our style predictions and foresee a future where baggy jeans and ugg boots are in, and mini bags are out!

Looking back at the fashion trends that took over this year, we can’t help but wonder what next year has installed for us. We asked our fashion team to share their future style predictions, and from the sounds of things, 2021 is looking more like 2001, with a few other throwbacks too...

“My prediction is a replacement of the bike short trend, and the return of baggy, loose pants/jeans, but more oversized – you know, the low-slung style that sits just below your hips and drags on the ground. It screams ultra-nostalgic and chilled, but is a slight step up from loungewear. It's been seen in the Fendi S/S 21 show and on the likes of Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid, et al. on the streets. I also hope to see the return of the really baggy, ‘ugly’ Coogi-style sweaters and cardis – the kind where the colours are that bad, yet they somehow work. And hyper-colour tees to come back – for a fun variation of the tie-dye trend.” – Sam, Creative Stylist.

“I predict the return of Ugg boots as a fashion statement. So many noughties trends are resurfacing, not to mention fluffy slippers already being a home staple because of iso, naturally, Ugg boots are next on the list. I'm already starting to see celebs bringing fleece boots back, and not going to lie, I'm almost sold on the look. Unlike how I used to wear them – scuffed to death with a fleece cuff and paired with spray-on jeans back when I was just starting highschool – the 2021 reincarnation looks a lot more refined.” – Eliza, Fashion Content Editor.

“I think the mini bag will be out and the oversize bag will come back – let's face it you can't fit anything into the mini bag anyway, so we are all dying for a bigger bag to fit all our junk in! The crop top with baggy pants silhouette continues, but I'm waiting for that one to be over!! And neon 80s sunnies will be coming back, brightening up 2021.” – Nicole, Head Of Style - Womens, Kids.

“I predict a bit more of a polished look... Blazers will be big – after a year of not touching such a piece of clothing they might be back in a big way in 2021! Also twin sets, twin sets (of any rendition) are def going to be big.” – Tara, Creative Stylist.

“Buying looks per gender (in the traditional sense) has been becoming less and less of a thing. Next year we’ll see more unisex sets and a crossover in everything from trends to colour palettes and silhouettes.” – Dani, Head Of Style - Menswear, Sneakerhub, Sports.
